Thorsten Hofmann’s consulting emphasis is on risk and crisis communication, communication with political stakeholder groups as well as communication in success-critical situations. He also advises companies, organizations and executives in negotiations management. Before this, he gained many years of operational experience in various Government ministries, as well as conducting risk analysis and consulting for members of the German Federal Government.

Hofmann is a lecturer for public affairs, economic and political negotiation management and crisis communication at the Quadriga University in Berlin. He heads the Center for Negotiation (CfN) at the Institute for Crisis, Change and Conflict Communication C4 and is the author of negotiation-blog.eu.

He studied psychology, criminology, and economics, received his doctorate from the Comenius University and is a visiting professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) in Mexico. Also, he is a graduate of the Federal Academy for Security Policy (Bundesakademie für Sicherheitspolitik, BAKS), the highest ranking, interdepartmental federal training center.

Since 2006, he has been chairman of the international Crisis Communication Task Force (CCTF) for the global agency network ECCO International Public Relations Ltd.
